DON'T THROW AWAY THE PARTY DECORATIONS! - Save money and do something your guests will LOVE! GIVE AWAY your party decorations! Use 40's period posters (see below for inexpensive resources) to hang around your party area. Allow the winners of different games to choose which poster they'll get to walk away with at the conclusion to the party! Combine decorations with party prizes!

Plan a 1940's themed scavenger hunt. Either create your own list, or download an amazing list off the Internet! CLICK HERE

Visit IMDB.com (a GREAT movie resource online) and select movies that were in that decade (choosing movies that your guests might be familiar with) also writing down WHEN they were released. As a fun game, have your guests try to put the movies in the order of their release date.

You gotta play Big Band music. See below for a compilation CD of the top hits from that decade!

Swing dancing is big among dance studios and those who enjoy taking lessons. Ask around to those who you might know who've taken some lessons and who wouldn't mind either showing off a little at the party or by showing a few steps to your guests.

Play a game of Hot Potato Draft. Make up a simple Army Draft letter for WWII and use it instead of a potato for the game (the participants sitting in a circle passing the potato while music is playing.) When the music stops, the person holding the letter is 'drafted' and is out of the game.

At the end of the party, celebrate V-Day with cheers, celebration and 'smooches' for the older guests :)

Those items like chocolate and rubber were rationed, so be sure to tell your guests not to tell anyone about those items at the party to anyone!
