"Hold
a raffle…1940’s STYLE!!! Have a table set up marked
Selective Service (initiated in 1940) and instruct that each
person must sign up for the draft in order to participate
in the raffle! Now, there are two different ways to facilitate
this kind of raffle. One is the traditional way, to call out
a winning name at the end of the party. HOWEVER…consider
this creative option. Instead of calling out the winner at
the end, call out the losers throughout the party. At different
times, call out names out loud for everyone to hear, calling
soldiers to war! Once there is one person left, you’ll
have your winner. Make sure to spread out the calling of the
names throughout the party…enabling this game to go on
casually throughout the party! Keep in mind that each person
who registered for the draft was also given a unique draft
number. These draft numbers can be worked into the activity
by calling them out instead of the names."
