Leave
a vase of daisies (or other wild flower) at the door/entrance
to the party with a note or sign instructing everyone to take
one. It's a nice gesture and really adds to the fun when everyone
looks around at the other guests all carrying flowers.

DON'T
THROW AWAY THE PARTY DECORATIONS! - Save money and do something
your guests will LOVE! GIVE AWAY your party decorations! Use
60's period posters (see below for inexpensive resources)
to hang around your party area. Allow the winners of different
games to choose which poster they'll get to walk away with
at the conclusion to the party! Combine decorations with party
prizes!
Play
60s Themed Bingo! The great part about this game is that it's
VERSATILE!!! Give everyone a board at the beginning and then
call out squares throughout the party. It will keep the activities
moving. This is especially great to have on hand in the event
that there is an unexpected downtime...just call out some
extra squares! Click below for an 60s themed Bingo set to

By
either downloading the music off the Internet or by purchasing
a tape from your local music store, you can get your hands
on all kinds of TV theme songs from the 60's. CD's are best
so that you can skip right to the next song once the playing
song has been guessed (unless, of course, your guests would
enjoy hearing the whole song...even singing along!)
When
you send out your invites, don't invite them to a party...tell
them about a protest and sit-in that is being held. Have fun
coming up with a cause worthy of protesting based on your
guests and hobbies of the guest of honor for the party (if
their is one as in a birthday boy, etc.)
Offer
face painting of peace signs and flowers for your guests.
If your guests are older, allow them to paint each other...prizes
can be awarded for the most creative.
Using
large sheets of poster board or colored butcher paper (cheap
wrapping paper would also work) cut out large, simply flower
shapes typical in the 60's style (think the small rubber stickers
you stick on the bottom of your bathtub to keep people from
slipping.) A great way to fill your walls with decorations
very inexpensively.
For
a more 'earthy' feel to your party, give everyone a small
plant or flower starter as parting gifts. These will be gifts
that they can take home with them and plant in their own gardens
or pots inside their homes
great reminders of the fun
they had at your party.
Gather
a bunch of famous dates/events from the decade and announce
them in order throughout the party as though they were actually
happening. Make sure to say them all in the present tense,
for example "Everyone, I have some bad news
the
date November 22, 1963 and President Kennedy was just assassinated"
etc.
You
can actually find online the audio news cast of different
major events during the 60's. These could be moving things
to play while everyone is participating in one of your sit-ins.
It will put everyone in the same perspective and mindset that
the folks LIVING in the 60s probably felt hearing the announcement
for the first time.
