Animal Planet Party Ideas
(The following ideas are exerpted from the Ultimate Jungle
Themed Event - click
here to read more)
- Having a difficult time creating a 'jungle feel' at your Animal
Planet party? Find fun jungle or animal print fabric at a local craft
or hobby store. Find a pattern with dense, jungle leaves and decorate
the entrance to your party with it (both sides of the entranceway.)
Some green streamers draped densely from above the door could cover
the overhead area, your fabric creates the jungle "sides."
Use green light bulbs in the area and shine them on the plants, streamers
or fabric to add to the foliage feel.
- Another idea for an inexpensive jungle, get a lot of green streamers.
Try to get at least two different shades of green and maybe one brown
roll, too. Hang and droop the streamers randomly and densely throughout
the party area
and NOT just overhead. You can make green construction
paper leaves to tape to the streamers. If you have some artificial
vines and leaves, you can sprinkle these around among the streamers
so
you'll have the leaves of a jungle and the streamers will "fill
in" the rest of the space. Let the 'vines' you create hang to
the floor, wrap around some of the furniture, even squiggle on the
ground. As long as it doesn't look uniform (the way normal streamers
might) it will add the great jungle colors to your event. You can
also hang some in doorways as 'vines' blocking the path and your guests
will have to brush aside the vines as they walk about! Use green light
bulbs in the area and shine them on the plants, streamers or fabric
to add to the foliage feel.
- Create an indoor tree for your Animal Planet party! Get a roll of
brown package paper. Unroll a piece about 15 feet long. Crinkle and
twist the paper over and over again. Now you can take the twisted
"trunk" and attach it to the wall with thumbtacks, poster
tack or tape. Try not to make a trunk that is straight up and down.
Make some smaller twisted lengths of packaging paper as offshoot branches.
Use green streamers to create "leaves" for the tree. You
can take small lengths and crunch them together, then tape the bunch
to the wall as a few leaves. You could also have your guests cut out
leaves for your tree. Use construction paper and have them cut different
leaves to tape to the wall.
- Find some inflatable Animal Planet animals for your table, to hang
from various places, or just to prop up around the party. If you cannot
find them at a party supply store, check Oriental Trading Company.
(Quest does not have any professional affiliation with OTC) They typically
sell the animals by the dozen - but that means you can fill a lot
of space easily. They could also be great parting gifts. Swimming
pool supply stores or departments of larger stores often have inflatable
animal products as well.
- Make paper plate snakes for your Animal Planet party! Get simple
paper plates and cut them in a spiral Start from the outer edge and
cut into the plate in a circular, spiral pattern (making several rotations
into the plate before making your way to the center.) Once you're
near the center, create a knob for the head of the snake. You can
hang the snake with thread, twine or ribbon
or even wrap them
around your vines and streamers.
- Serve animal food at your Animal Planet party! Healthy party food
can be more appealing if you tell your guests they are eating like
the animals. You can serve strange foods, or just name them differently.
Thin french fries can be elephant hay. Salad is salad, of course.
Monkey bananas. Orangutan oranges. Zebra nuggets - for the carnivores
in your group.
