Detroit Lions Party Ideas

Here’s a fun game that can be played throughout the duration of your party. Cut out a bunch of football images (or players on the Detroit Lions teams - images found online.) You’ll need multiple copies of each image so that multiple party guests can find them. On the backs of each of the images, write a number between 1 and 3. These images will then be hid all throughout your party space. Be sure to hide the images with a 1 on the back in easier places and the ones with a ‘3’ in the most difficult to find places. Explain to your guests that they’ll need to find the images (either footballs or the players) before the party is over. Explain that the winner will be determined not by who found the most, but rather who has the most number of points (the numbers on the backs of the images represent the points earned for finding that image.)

Detroit Lions game posters make for great decorations AND they can even double as prizes for any games that you have planned for your party. Hang the posters in very visible spots throughout your party area. Each time someone wins one of your games, allow them to choose from one of the posters on the wall that hasn’t already been chosen by a previous winner. Typically, you need to throw away the decorations at the end of a party…not this time! Your guests will be able to happily take them home with them! See below for a resource for getting your hands on some Detroit Lions posters.

Play a few rounds of football themed Bingo. This is a great activity to play while watching the game during commercial time or every time someone scores during the game. You can either create your own boards or download some HERE.

From construction paper (either black or the colors of the Detroit Lions) cut out paper lion paw prints…and lots of them. These are great for taping to the floor on the way to the front door of your party as well as on the walls of your party space! Check out images online of lion paw prints for reference.

Pick up some brown shaggy fur at your local fabric store (a yard should do the trick.) Cut out a ring of it to attach to a standard football helmet in the shape/design of a lion’s mane. This looks great as part of your centerpiece!

A great kids game (and for more energetic adults) is to have each player lay on the ground wearing full football pads (all of them.) When you say GO, the party guest wearing the full pads must stand up and lay back down as many times as they can in one minute. This is tough to do WITHOUT the pads, with the pads it’s even more crazy!
