Houston Texans Party Ideas

Here’s a fun game that can be played throughout the duration of your party. Cut out a bunch of football images (or players on the Houston Texans teams - images found online.) You’ll need multiple copies of each image so that multiple party guests can find them. On the backs of each of the images, write a number between 1 and 3. These images will then be hid all throughout your party space. Be sure to hide the images with a 1 on the back in easier places and the ones with a ‘3’ in the most difficult to find places. Explain to your guests that they’ll need to find the images (either footballs or the players) before the party is over. Explain that the winner will be determined not by who found the most, but rather who has the most number of points (the numbers on the backs of the images represent the points earned for finding that image.)

If you’ll be watching the big game as part of the party (or AS the party) have a Houston Texans hat that gets passed around the room each time the Texans make a score of any kind. Each time they score, it gets passed to the next party guest who has to wear the hat until the next time the Texans score. At the end of the game, whoever is wearing the hat wins a prize!

Check for upcoming sales at your local fabric store (Joann’s is great for having 40% off coupons that come in the mail to those on their mailing list.) A variety of fabrics in the Houston Texans colors can be purchased. Sometimes you can even get lucky to find images/prints that will also work within the theme. The fabric can be used to swag on windows and over tables as part of a tablecloth display. Cutting the fabric into small squares will also provide for amazing napkins!

For a fun tablecloth, cover the table with white butcher paper and paint a message right on the paper - something like GO TEXANS!

Play a few rounds of football themed Bingo. This is a great activity to play while watching the game during commercial time or every time someone scores during the game. You can either create your own boards or download some HERE.

Here’s a fun game for those more adventurous guests. Ahead of time boil lots of boiled eggs (two for each guest) and provide one NON-hardboiled egg for each guest. Pair up your guests and explain that they will each get three eggs cracked on their heads…TWO of them with a football helmet. They get to choose which egg will be cracked over their head (by the other partner in the pair) without the helmet. The trick, of course, being to make sure that you are wearing the football helmet with the egg gets cracked (which will end up getting their partner messy instead of them!)

Football equipment make for great party decorations - helmets, shoes and balls make for a great table centerpiece arrangement. If you are planning on such a table centerpiece, for fun use a standard turf outdoor doormat for the foundation of the centerpiece!

Visit your local fabric store and purchase a couple yards of fabric that would represent the Houston Texans (either in colors or in print). Make small sacks from the fabric and fill them with rice, dry beans or gravel. Once tied with a ribbon on top, they make for great weights for helium balloons! They look great as mini table centerpieces and are equally nice to give out to your guests as they leave!

When purchasing team print napkins and plates, pick up an extra package of each and use them for decoration! They can be some of the least expensive and festive decorations you can use for your party. Napkins that are unfolded can be hung up, place inside clear bowls for centerpieces and taped up just about anywhere. The plates can be hung from the ceiling and the walls. It’s a simple idea, but a great way to add volume to your decorating without breaking the budget (see below for team print napkins and plate options.)
