Why not put up some decorations that will also double as game prizes! If you’ve opted to play a couple of games during the party (i.e. at the seventh inning stretch, etc.) then try this: Order some Kansas City Royals posters and hang them up throughout the party area. The first person to win a game (whether it’s a score prediction game you’ve created or baseball Bingo) gets first pick of poster on the walls. By the end of the party, you’ve given away your posters and your party guests have party favors to take home with them! See below for online poster resources.

Depending on the number of guests you are expecting (and the time of year) you might consider renting an actual dunk tank. On warm days you shouldn’t have any trouble getting volunteers to take their turns on the ‘hot seat.’

For fun invitations, consider buying empty bags of popcorn or peanuts at your local restaurant supply store. Simply write all of the party information on the bags, or put them inside the bags. If you are able to, consider filling the bags with popcorn first!

Play Kansas City Royals Penny Pitch. Set up a few Los Angeles Dodgers baseball caps (face up such that they could catch a penny if one was thrown its way) on the ground some distance away. Around the Kansas City Royals caps arrange OTHER teams’ caps in a similar fashion. Each player is to throw five pennies towards the arrangement of hats, hoping their pennies land inside the Kansas City Royals caps. They will receive 5 points for each penny that does. For every penny that lands in ANOTHER cap (some other team) TWO points are taken away from their score. Once each player has had a chance to throw their five, determine a winner by seeing who has the most points!

As the colors of the Kansas City Royals are royal blue and white, consider getting these colors of construction paper and creating a paper chain for decorating. This is an activity that the kids can even get in on (and take over if you’re lucky…) They are simple to create - you can get creative, too, on your color arrangement. For example you can alternate colors or have several links of one color before changing to a new color.

Sometimes you’ll want to blanket a large space of your party with their colors, but that can get pretty expensive. For an inexpensive alternative, pick up a few rolls of cheap wrapping paper in the Padres colors. These can be used to decorates doorways, walls and even used to cut out giant letters spelling the name of the team!
