If
you have a large cement driveway or patio space that you will
be using for your Texas Longhorns party, consider taking sidewalk
chalk and drawing the yard lines of a standard football field.
Of course, you wont get all of the yard markers in the
space, however at least getting in the 50 yard line or even
the end zone can be fun!
Check
for upcoming sales at your local fabric store (Joanns
is great for having 40% off coupons that come in the mail
to those on their mailing list.) A variety of fabrics in the
Texas Longhorns colors can be purchased. Sometimes you can
even get lucky to find images/prints that will also work within
the theme. The fabric can be used to swag on windows and over
tables as part of a tablecloth display. Cutting the fabric
into small squares will also provide for amazing napkins!
For
a fun tablecloth, cover the table with white butcher paper
and paint a message right on the paper - something like GO
LONGHORNS!
A
great kids game (and for more energetic adults) is to have
each player lay on the ground wearing full football pads (all
of them.) When you say GO, the party guest wearing the full
pads must stand up and lay back down as many times as they
can in one minute. This is tough to do WITHOUT the pads, with
the pads its even more crazy!
Play
a few rounds of football themed Bingo. This is a great activity
to play while watching the game during commercial time or
every time someone scores during the game. You can either
create your own boards or download some HERE.
Visit
your local fabric store and purchase a couple yards of fabric
that would represent the Texas Longhorns (either in colors
or in print). Make small sacks from the fabric and fill them
with rice, dry beans or gravel. Once tied with a ribbon on
top, they make for great weights for helium balloons! They
look great as mini table centerpieces and are equally nice
to give out to your guests as they leave!
When
purchasing team print napkins and plates, pick up an extra
package of each and use them for decoration! They can be some
of the least expensive and festive decorations you can use
for your party. Napkins that are unfolded can be hung up,
place inside clear bowls for centerpieces and taped up just
about anywhere. The plates can be hung from the ceiling and
the walls. Its a simple idea, but a great way to add
volume to your decorating without breaking the budget (see
below for team print napkins and plate options.)
